Senior Research Officer (Computational biophysics/bioinformatics of gene regulation)

School of Biological Sciences

A fixed-term senior researcher position in computational biophysics and bioinformatics of gene regulation is available in the group of Dr. Vladimir B. Teif in the University of Essex (https://www.essex.ac.uk/bs/staff/profile.aspx?ID=4511). 

See examples of our recent publications: Beshnova et al. (2014) PLoS Comput Biol 10, e1003698; Teif et al. (2014) Genome Research, 24, 1285-95; Teif et al. (2012) Nature Struct Mol Biol 19, 1185-92. The person working on this project will closely interact with other group members and collaborators in the University of Edinburgh and the German Cancer Research Center who are using experimental methods of mammalian cell manipulation, molecular biology techniques and next generation sequencing methods.

The School of Biology offers a rich scientific environment, with several groups relevant to this project belonging to the Genomics initiative (http://genomics.essex.ac.uk) and the Essex Biomedical Sciences Institute http://www.essex.ac.uk/bs/research/centres_and_groups/ebsi/.

This is a Wellcome Trust funded 1-year position with a tentative start for the post of 1 October 2016 (or as soon as possible thereafter),
