Job Description:
SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS), to join in Fournier Laboratory. The Fournier Laboratory is dedicated to using bioinformatics and genomic analysis to investigate questions of microbial evolution in the context of planetary history. Responsibilities will include assisting researchers in using the lab’s computer cluster, developing and implementing phylogenetic analyses, assembling and curating genome sequence datasets, and maintaining the lab website. The position offers opportunities for publication in peer-reviewed research journals, and engagement with the broader MIT academic and research community.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: experience with bioinformatics methods, including UNIX/Linux cluster work environments, R, Python/Perl scripting languages, bioinformatics software including alignment and tree reconstruction programs (e.g., Paml, Phylip, Phyml, RaxML, MrBayes, Phylobayes, Muscle, Clustal, FastTree, FigTree, PyMol, Paup), and online bioinformatics databases and data repositories (e.g., Genbank, Treebase, Dryad). Seek someone who thrives in a competitive, fast-paced, research intensive, teamwork-based environment. A B.S./B.A. in a biology, computer science, or related field preferred. Job #15581-5
