We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientific professional with proven writing and editorial skills to join our support team within the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.

You will be responsible for managing the scientific output of the Institute. Working closely with the Institute Director and each Principal Investigator across 20 research groups, you will be expected to become familiar with the research currently being undertaken in the Institute. You will advise and assist in the formulation, editing and submission of manuscripts, assist research staff in the preparation of grant applications, abstracts, lay summaries, presentations, scientific posters, students’ theses, conference materials, funders’ scientific reports and any other documentation required. You will also have a key role supporting the promotion of the Institute through close collaboration with the NDORMS Communications Officer.

You must have a doctorate in life sciences and an advanced knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology, with a particular understanding of immunology. Substantial experience of scientific and editorial writing in a research environment with previous experience of successfully managing small to mid-range projects is essential. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently are also vital. Previous experience and understanding of research grant applications and grant management would be desirable.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years in the first instance.
