Job Description:
We are looking for a Quantitative Imaging Senior Scientist to lead a group responsible for advanced quantitative image analysis of immune-tumoral interactions in clinical samples using multiplexed immunohistochemistry. The position requires in depth understanding of how to apply advanced image analysis techniques to understand changes in the tumor microenvironment in response to immune-therapy. Knowledge of the latest immunohistochemistry techniques (IHC, multiplex IF, ISH, etc), imaging and computational tissue image analyses are requisite for the position, located in Waltham, MA. The successful candidate will contribute to and grow Juno’s image analysis strategy through their knowledge of programming (C++, Python, Matlab and R), machine learning, data integration and implementation of novel technologies and methodologies. The candidate will have deep mathematical understanding to develop novel algorithms and utilize modeling techniques to advance our knowledge and use of CAR-T therapy. Ability to work in a dynamic, highly-collaborative team environment is essential.

The cellular therapeutic space is uniquely challenging in the oncology field, with tremendous potential to improve patient outcomes. A scientific commitment to unravel the biology behind CAR T cells in complex tumor microenvironments is fundamental to improving therapeutic efficacy. A candidate should possess passion and focus for re-inventing how we approach CAR T research, both in the short and long term.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Build and drive growth of image analysis capabilities to support morphological immunophenotyping and tumor microenvironment studies
  • Utilize and develop cutting edge image analysis techniques to understand and quantitate changes in the immune and tumor microenvironment in response to CAR-T and TCR therapeutic application.
  • Research, design and write algorithms to accurately identify, segment, register, and quantify digital histopathology images.
  • Apply scientific knowledge on image processing and computer vision to multi-disciplinary projects and provide technical leadership for the team and training scientific staff.
  • Work with multiple teams in different sites to effectively analyze comprehensive data sets.
  • Collaborate with external leaders in the field.
  • Be a leader. Provide direction to deliver upon short term goals while driving innovative approaches that shape future therapeutic strategy.
Job requirements:
  • PhD in related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years expertise using advanced computational image analysis platforms.
  • Excellent programming experience in machine learning and deep learning (C++, Python, R and Matlab).
  • Exposure to scripting languages and relational databases.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and team-based environment.
  • Experience with IHC/ISH, multiplexing, data interpretation, and histopathology.
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, reporting and communication skills.
