Job Description:
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a talented, motivated Lead Scientific Software Analyst to join our team in Boston. This is a senior level position that allows you to share your valuable experience with members of the team while working on exciting scientific research projects. You will partner with research scientists to design, develop, and support dynamic web applications for a number of different scientific workflows, particularly cheminformatics, bioinformatics, and/or data analysis and visualization tools. The ideal candidate needs to have an understating of the entire web development process, including design, development and deployment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field; or a Bachelor's or higher degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other science degree with programming experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software development, preferably at a pharmaceutical or biotech company
  • Demonstrated experience in developing dynamic Web applications
  • Experience in Javascript, MySQL, python, HTML, CSS, jQuery
  • Knowledge of Ext-JS or AngularJS application framework and python web frameworks a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scientific background with hands on research experience
  • Experience with database design and implementation
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment
  • A desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious diseases, their families and society
