Job Description:
Call for interest. Six (6) permanent positions providing advanced bioinformatics support , located at SciLifeLab B ioinformatics P latform nodes across Sweden. Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab , www.scilifelab.se ) in Sweden serves as a national infrastructure to support advanced high -‐ throughput life science res earch . Originally located in the Stockholm/Uppsala region, SciLifeLab is currently one of the fastest -‐ growing life s cience research establishments in Europe , now also form ing satellite nodes at other universities across Sweden . The bioinformatics platform at SciLifeLab is a national infrastructure in rapid growth and development , now looking for 6 permanent staff members to join the Bioinformatics Long -‐ term Support team (a.k.a WABI), preferably placed at bioinformatics nodes in Umeå, Linköping, Gothenburg, or Lund . Together with other national bioinformatics staff, the new recruits will aid the build -‐ up of the national platform by establishing local platform nodes. The Bioinformatics Long -‐ term Support team provide s advanced bioinformatics analyses to some of the most scientifically exciting projects across Sweden. Launched in the b eginning of 2013, the team currently holds 15 full -‐ time senior bioinformaticians, and has been established as one of the strongest units for analyses of large -‐ scale genomic data in Sweden . Examples of supported scientific areas are medical genomics and tra nscriptomics, cancer and complex diseases, proteomics, as well as evolutionary, ecological and environmental genomics. The successful candidates have (i) a PhD or similar relevant working experience from advanced studies within bioinformatics, eit her within academia or industry, (ii) f luent oral and w ritten communication in English , and (iii) s trong skills in cooperation and communication. Postdoctoral studies are a strong merit but not a requirement.
