Our team in Munich is looking for a highly motivated, creative and passionate: Software and Database Developer (f/m) Full time, initial 2.5 year contract (extension possible) Your Key Responsibilities: You implement user-friendly tools for data analysis, quality control, and automatic processing of data. You develop data warehouses with web-based, user-friendly interface. In cooperation with the bioinformatics team, you develop new algorithms and data analysis methods. You work together with the colleagues in Munich, Göttingen, and Toulouse in interdisciplinary project teams to coordinate the developments, to deploy the implemented tools, and to train users. You actively communicate with data producers and data users. If necessary, you provide IT support / user support for the Munich team such as network administration and maintenance of the Linux and Windows servers alongside our IT support. Your Qualifications: You obtained a Master's degree or PhD in computer science, bioinformatics or a related field. Due to your work experience, you have proven your understanding of principles of project management. You successfully set priorities and completed projects within time and budget. You offer in-depth experience in object-oriented programming with JAVA or similar programming languages, database development, and agile software development. Additionally, you have basic experience in the administration of Oracle databases or other SQL databases. Your experience in computer network administration and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers is a plus. You already either have first experience in working with biological data like proteomics or are heavily interested in applying computer-based methods on systems biology. Furthermore, you have an interest or basic knowledge in the use of classical statistical methods and modern concepts such as Bayesian statistics, bootstrapping, and machine learning. Presenting and communicating results comes easily thanks to your excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent English language skills (written and spoken) top off your profile. Ideally you speak German as well, if not, you have a strong commitment to master the German language in a timely manner.
