Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and seeks to commercialize therapeutic antibodies with the potential to meaningfully transform current treatment paradigms. This newly created position will join our growing informatics team and play a key role in fulfilling this mission. In this role, you would be responsible for collecting and integrating research and development data from a variety of sources. This position is also responsible for creating clean maintainable code for in-house web applications and custom scripts for parsing a variety of datasets. Will also be tasked with developing new web services to help grow and maintain the current analysis pipelines. Specific responsibilities will include: -Communicate with internal customers to translate requests into software solutions. -Learn the bioinformatics science necessary to understand user data, methods, and work flows. -Communicate clearly and consistently with Alder’s scientific staff, including discussing technical concepts with non-technical stakeholders. -Work with commercial software vendors to optimize integration between different systems. -Work efficiently at all layers of various web applications. Qualifications: -A Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or equivalent. -5+ years of professional software development experience with a consistent track record of owning feature level deliverables. -Strong coding abilities with languages: Perl and/or Python - Ruby is preferred - but not required. -Proven knowledge of web-based technologies (such as JavaScript/JavaScript Frameworks, jQuery, HTML, CSS, AJAX). -Experience with relational databases (such as MYSQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.) -Experience with testing and deploying code to production using Docker is a plus. -Experience with Web based visualization packages such as D3. -Ability to learn new technologies quickly. -Experience with Java and developing web services a plus. -Familiarization with R, JMP, SAS a plus. -An understanding of software development techniques including version control, automated testing, automated deployments and agile methodologies. -Good interpersonal and communication skills. -Strong problem solving and decision making skills; comfortable with ambiguity. -Strong technical background in molecular biology, genomics, next generation sequencing or immunology preferred. -Willingness and ability to learn the bioinformatics science necessary to understand users data, methods, and work flows.
