Job Description:
Drs. T. M. Murali and Kurt Luther are seeking a talented and enthusiastic software engineer for an NIH-funded project that combines analysis and visualization of biological networks with crowdsourcing. The position involves design and implementation of web-based software systems that support crowdsourced visualization and layouts of complex biological networks and critiquing and synthesis of these layouts, built upon the GraphSpace (http://www.graphspace.org) web platform . The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of high quality software development and significant experience with web-based software development. The successful applicant will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community, based in the Department of Computer Science and with strong connections to the Center for Human-Computer Interaction and research groups in systems biology and tissue engineering. This position is funded for one calendar year and is available immediately.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. in computer science, software engineering, or related field, or B.S. in computer science, software engineering, or related field with significant related experience.
  • Track record of high-quality software development
  • Experience with web-based software development, including HTML/CSS, Javascript, Python, Django, and PostgreSQL
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creativity, independence, and high motivation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with bioinformatics and network analysis and visualization
  • Experience with implementation, development, and evaluation of collaborative software
  • Experience with user interface design and/or visual design
  • Evidence of effective project management skills
Percent Employment: Full-time

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
