The opportunity: Do you have a passion to work on state-of-the-art web technologies? Want to develop applications in daily use by several thousands of end-users? Want to gain essential engineering experience working on the world’s best web content management system that powers large enterprise websites visited by millions daily? OpenText (Digital Experience) is looking for a software developer to be part of a top-notch software development team located in San Mateo, CA. This team is responsible for developing and innovating on OpenText's industry leading enterprise level Digital Experience/Web Content Management solutions product line. Our products include TeamSite, LiveSite and OpenDeploy and are used by thousands of large enterprises in the world to build and deploy their websites. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for continued development and enhancements on the Web Content Management products. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated mastery of at least one object oriented language (Java preferred) and development experience on the J2EE Stack and Web technologies. In addition, applicant must demonstrate excellent problem solving skills with interest to grow and develop professionally. This person will work as a key member of an engineering team and be involved in all aspects of designing, developing and supporting web based software products. This position will work closely and collaboratively with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Documentation and Support/Services teams, during all phases of the software development lifecycle. You are great at: • Designing and implementing software solutions for Web Content Management domain. • Ensuring quality of software through focus on unit testing • Utilizing the latest industry standard design & implementation tools and frameworks (Java, J2EE, Web 2.0 etc.) to develop world-class software. • Documenting and publishing requirement, design and functional specifications for use by internal teams. • Participating in the evaluation and resolution of defect ticket reports for new as well as legacy components. • Reviewing and understanding functional requirements to be able to conceive and present software designs focusing on workflow and usability. • Contributing to the team’s software development lifecycle improvement initiatives by utilizing standard practices as well proposing areas of improvement. What it takes: •A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software/Computer Engineering. •A minimum of one year experience (academic/industry) with Java Web Application development. •Experience with web technologies development (DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, related frameworks). •An understanding of the use of Design Patterns. •Functional knowledge of various operating systems and computer networking. •Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and related tools. •Previous internship or co-op experience would be an asset. •Software development and engineering skills on large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure applications would be a plus.
