Job Description:
Purpose of Job
Human Longevity, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer or Bioinformatics Engineer with an emphasis in Biomedical Text Mining to design and develop HLI's capabilities to mine biomedical literature for knowledge.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Apply data-mining, machine learning and/or graph analysis techniques for a variety of modeling and relevance problems involving Bioinformatics within Genome and Microbiome Sequencing, Phenotyping, Metabolone and Proteomics
Design and evaluate novel approaches for handling high-volume real-time data streams
Code using primarily C++, C, and Python in a Unix/Linux environment
Conduct design and code reviews
Interface with Bioinformatics Scientists and Software Engineers
Work with large unstructured and structured data sets
Prototype, develop and test new algorithms, using simulation-based models
Design, execute and analyze empirical performance assessment and validation studies, including analyze respondent interactions and cognitive load
Mine existing empirical data sets to develop performance metrics for real-time as well as post-hoc use
Improve the computational efficiency and scalability of various statistical models
Minimum Qualifications (Must have)
Experience with Biomedical Text mining, ontologies, Corpora
Knowledge of Biomedical Datasets
Familiar with Broad Set of Data Mining and Machine Learning Methods
Data Visualization tools/libraries
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Related Area
Strong programming skills (Python, C++, Java, ...)
Experience to work in a software development team
Deep knowledge of natural language processing and natural language understanding
Working Conditions
Open office environment
Global environment with multiple sites, which may require work beyond standard business hours
Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
Must be able to lift and transport at least 25 pounds
