GeneDx is seeking a Software Test Engineer (FT, 40 hours) to work at our Gaithersburg, MD location Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Role: The GeneDx Software Test Engineer supports the development of assays and clinical data analysis tools for the BioReference-GenPath division, which currently includes somatic tumor sequencing and reproductive carrier screening. Essential Duties:
- Develops automated and manual methods for the testing, verification, and validation of clinical diagnostics software
- Develops and maintains software applications for aiding in the testing of system requirements
- Utilizes automated testing frameworks to perform unit, functional, regression and end-to-end testing
- Works with scientists, engineer and other stakeholders to understand technical requirements of the software
- Finds and effectively communicates bugs in production software applications during testing procedures
- Triages routine user issues and system errors in production software systems
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (computer science, bioinformatics, or similar)
- At least 1 year of professional software testing/development experience
- Working knowledge of Linux
- Basic proficiency with a scripting language(s) (Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby etc.)
- Experience with test automation frameworks and automated testing techniques
- Familiar with basic bioinformatics concepts and the software engineering life-cycle
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Basic proficiency with Git
- Experience in CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratories or other clinical validation frameworks (FDA, NY State)
- Understanding of genomics pipelines and data
- Experience with TAP (Test Anything Protocol)
- Candidates with 3+ years of professional software testing experience may be considered for a senior engineer position
