Job Description:
The rapid progress of our lead programs and a need to characterize and prosecute new targets has created a truly exceptional opportunity for a (Sr.) Bioinformatician keen to apply her/his expertise in the drug discovery arena. The Bioinformatician will be responsible for a broad spectrum of data mining and analysis activities spanning the length of our discovery pipeline. He/She will interact with all the functional areas in our Research organization and will play a critical role by providing key data analyses to inform the direction of the Translational Science team we are building. Requirements: The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant Life Sciences discipline and will ideally also possess a formal qualification in programming/analysis. Experience in a drug discovery environment would be a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful integration and analysis of large genomic datasets and the combination of public, commercial and company scientific and patent data. Expression data (mRNA and protein) will be a focus area, with analysis expected to go far beyond standard profiling of single genes to encompass expression signatures. A core element of the role involves working with our nascent Translational Science team to capture, analyze and visualize information that we will generate over time (for example, PD readout data, non-clinical analyses in a Phase 0 setting and patient sample data). Our longer-term objective is the collection and collation of a rich profile of the changes that occur within the immune landscapes in the blood and tumors of patients who receive our drugs. The successful candidate is expected to be involved in the design, interpretation and presentation of this work. The Bioinformatician will also have the chance to work with the Biology Department on experimental design, capture and interpretation of relevant preclinical data, for example the use of data from mRNA profiling technologies to explore the effects of Arcus compounds in tumor models, etc.
Additional Info:
Unlike many other organizations, we view the drug discovery process as one that requires equal parts of technology and art, science and elegance, not as a commodity that can be outsourced. For this reason, we have assembled an internal team of uniquely qualified individuals with extraordinary knowledge, skills and drive.[Click Here to Access the Original Job Post]
