Responsibilities
As our Bioinformatics Scientist, you will responsible for developing algorithms for analyzing high throughput sequencing data. Your specific duties for this role will include:- Design and develop innovative methods and tools to interpret human genome sequences for personal genetic traits and disease association.
- Develop and test integrative data analysis tools, data visualization methods, and statistical analysis methods to support genome analysis in a commercial production environment.
- Develop quality metrics and evaluate bioinformatics algorithms and models based on large datasets.
- Process, analyze and interpret high volumes of data as part of internal and external scientific studies. Develop automated methods and software to support large-scale bioinformatics analysis.
- Present scientific and technical data to both internal and external scientific colleagues in a clear and cohesive manner.
- Work independently and prepare timetables, deliverables, and project schedules.
Qualifications
We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist who has outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a proven track record of overcoming challenges within a fast-paced environment. It is also vital to this role that you display superior organizational and prioritization abilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Specific qualifications for the role include:- Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics or other related field
- 2+ years’ experience working in Bioinformatics capacity in related industry
- OR
- M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field, PhD a plus .
- 3+ experience working in a commercial environment in biotech with a strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics.
- Experience with DNA sequencing technology and applications.
- Experience with various operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Linux.
- Familiar with bioinformatics software packages for NGS data analysis.
- Familiar with shell command system and scripting languages including bash, Python, Perl.
- Familiar with database systems such as MySQL, Sqlite and query language.
