Job Description:
Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to Illumina software and data in collaboration a variety of teams including Field Service Engineers, Field Applications Scientists, Sales, Technical Support and internal developers
  • Provide statistical, data analysis, and experimental design support for rapid resolution of complex, quantitative, and intermittent challenges that impact customer data
  • Consult with Pre- and Post-sales customers to facilitate adoption and uptake of NextGen Sequencing by ensuring that the customer is ready for analysis challenges
  • Increase customer satisfaction by acting as an expert resource for customer bioinformatics questions as they relate to Illumina data or sequencing applications
  • Develop, coordinate and deliver advanced bioinformatics and application trainings and demonstrations for customers
  • Actively participate in product development teams capturing customer needs and feature requests, support of customer beta tests, and development of training and documentation prior to product launch
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years relevant Biotech experience including experience in an external customer facing role strongly preferred
    • Excellent understanding of NextGen Sequencing-related bioinformatics experimental design and practice is very important to the role. This should include experience with:
      • common NGS pipelines and components (eg Tuxedo Suite, BWA/GATK, QIIME, etc)
      • scripting languages (eg python, perl) and APIs
      • compute, storage, and bandwidth practical considerations important to successful analyses
      • Existing experience with components of BaseSpace, especially Sequence Hub, is also preferred
    • Our instruments typically exist in a mixed Windows/Linux environment, so ability to deal with networking and troubleshooting in a Windows and Linux context is frequently helpful
    • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills.
