Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have experience with databases, programming, statistics, and bioinformatics. The primary purpose of the Senior Data Analyst position is to coordinate the development, utilization and maintains database(s) middleware and analysis applications at use in the molecular diagnostics laboratory. Supervises data collection and reporting. Ensures relevant data is collected at designated stages, entered into appropriate database(s) and reported appropriately. Monitors assignments to assure distribution of workload and the assessment of collection efforts. Prepares specific reports and analysis to aid in decisions. Key Functions ·       Coordinate and manage the Breast Cancer Pharmacogenomics Research Database and the research database for all of my grants and contracts. ·       Key contact for more than 10 National and International collaborators. Furthermore, there are comprehensive projects involving analytical, biological, inter-sample and inter-laboratory reproducibility of microarray results, in a complex nested study design, with many linked microarrays arising from each single breast cancer. ·       Accurate and effective coordination of those critical data elements and of the sample workflow and data retrieval for analysis and reporting in this project is essential to its success. So it is critical to have a committed expert to coordinate this aspect of our translational and clinical research program Within the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory. ·       Specialized knowledge of database development, improvement and management, computer programming, analysis, integration of database tools for users, and project management are necessary to coordinate the many laboratory, pathology, and clinical information aspects of this program. ·       The long-term expectation is to fully integrate the research database into the daily workflow within the laboratory, for the Breast Cancer Pharmacogenomics Program, and for prospective clinical trials for the Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy that incorporate our tests. ·       Lead coordinator and direct line of communication flow between the staff and the PI’s. Establishes the platform for the workflow team. Specific duties would include management of the data from clinical pathology, laboratory and bioinformatics, supervising personnel from these areas, and integration of the above data with the existing reporting databases. ·       Administers the training for each of the databases and applications for research data programs. Oversees data collection and reporting for clinical trials and research projects. Make certain that pertinent data is collected at designated stages, entered into appropriate database(s) and reported appropriately. ·       Manages detailed protocol reports and analysis to support decisions and to assist in manuscript preparation and grant submissions. ·       Implementation of the computerize system for sample labeling. Screens and maintains data management activities including clinical and laboratory data retrieval and entry into computerized databases. ·       Run queries, creates descriptive and exploratory statistical analyses, and design of validation studies to provide vital outcomes and statistics from submitted data.
