SR. DATABASE TECH SPECIALIST

Job Description:
We are looking for a Database Engineer who is able to conceptualize and design database solutions and manage processes with a team of developers in our Bioinformatics group.

• Ability to design, develop and deliver / implement database solutions to our Bioinformatics applications
• Ability to troubleshoot, debug and provide solution for database process that follows efficient design techniques and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution
• Ability to effectively manage day-to-day tasks / activities in coordination with a team of developers to effectively meet the deliverables and schedule of a data solution component/project
• Ability to support and maintain data and database systems to meet business delivery specifications and needs for the Bioinformatics group
• Ability to work independently, particularly as a member of Bioinformatics group .

Requirements:

BS degree in computer science or equivalent required. MS or PhD preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Five or more years of database development experience in a MS SQL Server is required. Knowledge on Oracle and Linux environment preferred. Project management and support experience a plus. Experience in database tuning and performance preferred. Experience in life sciences, computational biology/bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics analysis pipelines, testing/validation/debug scripts preferred.
