Job Description:
The Johns Hopkins Department of Pediatrics seeks a Senior Research Data Analyst to lead data management and statistical analysis for the Center for Child and Community Health Research (CCHR) and the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, And Data Management (BEAD) Core. CCHR’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of children, adolescents, families and the communities they reside in. The BEAD Core provides research support services to faculty investigators and in doing so supports the tripartite mission of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as well as the strategic objectives of people, biomedical discovery, education and performance.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and optimization of new databases and/or oversee the collection, organization and management of research and program evaluation data in REDCap and other data collection/management platforms as needed;
  • Conduct data management including data cleaning protocols, QA/QC checks, merging and linking data from multiple sources, etc.;
  • Under the guidance of the PI and collaborative team, conduct or direct statistical analyses including but not limited to regression-based longitudinal and multilevel analyses, cost-effectiveness analyses, networking analyses, techniques for missing data, etc.;
  • P
  • rovide research support and technical assistance on epidemiologic study designs and statistical approaches to clients of the BEAD core, i.e. faculty and their trainees, and team members through consultations and meetings;
  • Attend study meetings as necessary;
  • Collaborate with the study team to produce scholarly products including but not limited to reports for scientific, lay and policy audiences summarizing study findings and progress, scientific manuscripts for publication, and presentations and reports;
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with security policies governed by HIPAA and the Johns Hopkins Medicine IRB;
  • Other duties as necessary.
Minimum qualifications:

Doctoral degree (PhD, ScM, DrPH) in public health (e.g., epidemiology, bioinformatics), OR master’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year related experience. Experience with working with health data and conducting data management required. Demonstrated experience with statistical analyses including longitudinal and multilevel analyses in health required. Must have programming expertise in Stata, MPlus, R, and/or SAS. Position requires careful and thorough documentation, high levels of organization, and willingness to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with statistical analyses including longitudinal and multilevel analyses in health required.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with public health surveillance data, cost-effectiveness analyses, networking analyses, ArcGIS and spatial analyses and at least three (3) years relevant experience as an analyst is strongly preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
