Job Description:
Bionano Genomics is looking for a talented, versatile senior scientist to work on research, development and application of a fluidic nanochannel device that enables next-generation optical mapping applications. The candidate will be involved in the development of current and novel applications. He or she will perform advanced analysis and work closely with physicists, engineers, molecular biologists, and computer scientists at Bionano Genomics. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Design and lead research projects. • Perform advanced data analysis on public and proprietary genomics data. • Work on novel pipelines and algorithm development and validation efforts. • Manage industry and academic collaboration projects. • Present results to collaborators, at scientific meetings and in peer reviewed publication.

Requirements
Required: • PhD in an area related to physics, computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, or genomics. • A minimum of 2 years relevant industry or research experience in genomics. • Experience with one or more of the following: Shell, Python/Perl, R. • Experience with next generation sequencing platforms. • Strong publication track record Advantageous: • Experience in NGS technologies and their application to de novo assembly and structural variation analysis. • Experience with de novo assembly (Falcon, Canu, Supernova, etc.) and structural variation software. • Experience with basic molecular biological lab techniques related to the preparation and analysis of genomic DNA such as enzymatic reactions, PCR, and PFGE. • Management experience.
