The Bioinformatics Research Scientist participates in method development, data analysis, statistical analysis, experimental and analytical design and data management for an immunology program working on T cell biology (including TCR repertoire), influenza susceptibility, and anti-tumor immunity. Participates in collaborative research with interdepartmental investigators and communicates and discusses analytical processes and results. Actively participates in the immunology program's independent research and collaborates with the Department of Computational Biology. Responsible for or assists in preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication. Contributes ideas to automate or improve existing analysis methods. Assists with establishing and documenting protocols or best practices for common research tasks, including mentoring junior scientists in computational approaches. (CC)
Job Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related field required
Ph.D. which must include research related to bioinformatics or computational biology (such as analysis of sequence data, SNPs, methylation, or dynamic modeling of biological pathways; development of algorithms, statistical methods or scientific software);
OR
If Ph.D. with no bioinformatics research, then two (2) years of pre-or postdoctoral experience in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics research is required
Experience with programming languages such as Perl, C, Python or Java is required
