Job Description:
Are you curious about Bioinformatics? Do you want to get some experience in a fast-paced setting? Come join us and help us transform the field of personal diagnostics. We are looking for a Programmer/software developer who wants to work with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis. The duties of our intern could include: programming, unit testing, data analysis, and displaying data from multiple sources on a HTML page.

Additionally, the selected intern will be asked to participate in various intern activities, which may include workshops with leaders in the organization, our mentor program, and our Poster Symposium among other activities.

What the Intern will learn:

  • Reproducible data analysis
  • Bioinformatics Analysis best practices
  • Soft-skills/on the job skills
  • Understanding of cutting edge technology
  • How to interpret NGS data
Minimum requirements:
  • Preferred: Going into Junior or Senior year focus on Computer Science.
  • Basic programming skills, some scripting language (Perl/Python), R, basic Bioinformatics tools knowledge preferred
Program Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during program calendar year 2017.
  • Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.
  • Must have a ≥3.0 GPA
  • Minimum availability of 12 weeks (Required start on or before program Welcome Reception and end date on or after Summer End Poser Symposium).
  • Previous experience in the job duties listed, either through course work or industry/academia Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience
