As the company continues to expand further we have a number of exciting opportunities for motivated individuals to join our team. Target Validation - Bioinformatician (319) The purpose of this role is to primarily develop and apply bioinformatics to solve problems in cancer genomics or relevant fields, as required within dedicated scientific teams. The Target Validation group is responsible for the identification and characterization of tumour antigens, and therefore desirable skills for this group include experience of applying bioinformatics or biostatistics to address questions in genetics and genomics. Whilst initially requiring supervision by a more senior scientist, the job holder will develop further scientific skills to be able to work more independently on routine experiments. The job holder will also be responsible for the interpretation of scientific results under the supervision of a line manager. Key Responsibilities: Develop and apply bioinformatics to solve problems in cancer genomics or relevant fieldsAnalyse, summarise and record experimental results, and maintain relevant databases and recordsParticipate in project meetings and discussionsRoutine lab maintenance. Qualifications & Experience Required: At least Master degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Engineering or Computing.Programming experience, with experience in data mining (e.g. Python, R, Java)Experience of applying bioinformatics or biostatistics to address questions in genetics and genomicsAbility to work independently on routine experiments with limited supervisionAbility to learn and develop in order to work independently on routine experiments within a reasonable time frameDesirableExperience in Unix or Linux operation systemExperience developing web interfaces for data or model exploration (e.g. R Shiny, Python) Skills & CompetenciesRequired:Experience of contributing to peer-reviewed publicationsExperience building and maintaining biological databases. An understanding of the principles of oncology Decision making authorityWeek-to-week management of own experiments with input from line manager.Hepatitis B vaccination may be required and costs covered by the Company if necessary.
