Job Description:
This position currently supports the development of innovative data sharing platforms for biomedical research. A typical day can include project planning, backlog management, client communication, quality assurance, writing user stories, team scrums, and working group meetings. The project manager will be the process authority and will work with functional areas in the center to coordinate activities, manage dependencies, and embed new processes to support the team and project operations. The project manager manages a variety of complex projects, ensuring smooth and industry-standard execution of an Agile software development lifecycle and provision of commons data services. Plans, executes, and finalizes project tasks and deliverables according to agreed upon deadlines and within budget. This responsibility includes coordinating the efforts of all team members and clients in order to deliver project tasks and products according to the plan and stakeholder priorities. Reviews and prioritizes the backlog with the client regularly, monitors sprint velocity, and reviews sprint activities that did not get completed for prioritization in subsequent sprints. Serves as the primary point of contact for the client and stakeholders for communications to and from the technical teams. Ensures appropriate approvals are in place for compliance. Works closely with the technical and scientific leads to develop project plans and ensure each team is on track, disseminating project updates. Gathers requirements and assists with specifications and use cases. Manages project communications and schedules. Coordinates activities with the project team including software engineering, quality assurance, cloud operations, bioinformatics, and IT security to highlight dependencies, manage risks, and ensure timely completion. The project team may include remote subcontractors. Coordinates activities between the project team and other University groups including, but not limited to: IT Services, Contracts, Purchasing, Finance, University Research Administration, Legal, and Administration. Functions as the liaison between the project team, prime sponsor, vendors, external collaborators, and leadership. Provides regular status reports as appropriate. Ensures delivery of project documentation and deliverables. Proactively ensures the Director and other stakeholders are aware of all challenge and issues and makes recommendations for resolution. Facilitates change review process. Follows through to stakeholder acceptance. Perform other duties as assigned. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance. Education: Master's degree in a computer science, engineering, biology, or quantitative discipline or six (6) years of relevant experience required.PhD in a computer science, engineering, biology, or other quantitative discipline highly preferred.
