Job Description:

Mission of the role We are seeking a talented computational expert with experience in next-generation sequencing data (especially RNA-seq), genomic and/or network analyses. The job will involve several major tasks: (i) performing specific studies of alternative splicing using our standard pipeline for RNA-seq data plus associated statistical analysis; (ii) re-write parts of our analysis pipeline to improve efficiency and usability by external academic users; (iii) identification of targets and associated motifs for specific RNA binding proteins; (iv) genomic to proteomic sequence analyses across long phylogenetic distances. Requirements

Studies:

  • Degree in Informatics / Mathematics / Physics / Biology.

Technical skills required:

  • Proficient programming in bash, perl and R.
  • Experience on transcriptomic analyses.
  • Statistics applied to omics analyses.
  • Experience on evolutionary analyses.

Additional beneficial skills:

  • Previous experience on academic research.

Languages:

  • Fluent level of English

Soft skills:

  • Highly interactive with other members of the group.
  • Capable of working rigorously and flexibly in respond to research demands.
The Offer
  • Duration: 1 year renewable contract up to 5 years.
  • Estimated annual gross salary: A competitive salary will be provided, which will be well matched relative to the cost of living in Barcelona, and adjusted according to experience
  • Starting date: As soon as possible from April 2015.
