ROLE of the POSITION
The newly formed Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine (NIPM) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is recruiting faculty at all levels. There are positions available for: Tenure-track faculty at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels These positions may be available in a variety of departments, including community health sciences, mathematics, life sciences, nursing, dental, and health care administration. The new institute will build excellence in personalized medicine to improve health services and outcomes. The institute is being formed from 5 new hires and ~20 affiliate faculty at UNLV already working in these areas. Although all clinical interests will be considered, those with a neurology and cardiology focus are preferred. Scientists will pursue their individual research projects and work on an NIPM team project advancing the use of genome sequencing and GWAS analysis in healthcare. We seek candidates with research interests, expertise and accomplishments in bioinformatics, genomics, human genetics, biostatistics, medical and health informatics, genome sequencing and genetic testing, and adaptive clinical trials. Primary appointments will be in a variety of departments, including community health sciences, life sciences, and nursing.
Personalize medicine is an area of growth and commitment for UNLV. It is an important part of the UNLV Tier 1 initiative and will increase institutional status through enhanced R&D and graduate programs. These positions will work in collaborative teams both on and off campus to address critical health and medical issues in the community. These issues include access and affordability of health care and the prevalence of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and diabetes. There are opportunities to collaborate with partners that have unique capabilities, such as the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, and the Veteran's Administration Hospital. In addition, UNLV has established centers of excellence through National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for clinical translational research (IDeA-CTR) and infrastructure building in bioinformatics as part of the IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE).
Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD, a track record of publication, the ability to secure external funding, and the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: data analytics in a health context; biostatistics; bioinformatics; health information technology; and health care administration. In addition, applicants who can work in interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
