Job Description:

The Wistar Institute is recruiting for multiple cancer biology faculty positions at all three ranks (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor) as part of an ongoing multi-year expansion of basic and translational research enabled by a recent major building expansion. This recruitment effort is focused in two of its Cancer Center Programs: Gene Expression and Regulation (GER) and Molecular and Cellular Oncogenesis (MCO). Successful candidates are expected to develop or expand extramurally-funded research programs using collaborative, multi-disciplinary approaches to cancer biology. Major cancer sites of interest include melanoma, ovarian cancer and prostate cancer. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

Epigenetics of cancer, high-throughput functional genomics, gene expression, non-coding RNAs, viral etiology of cancer Structural biology, macromolecular assembly, interactions and regulation Tumor suppressor and oncogene function, signal transduction, cancer metabolism Drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, mechanism of action of novel anti-cancer therapeutics Proteomics, metabolomics, functional genomics and computational biology of cancer

The Wistar Institute is the nation’s first independent biomedical research Institute with long-standing NCI Cancer Center designation. It has a strong technology transfer focus in biomedical research and ranks fifth in the nation for royalties from intellectual property. Faculty will be recruited to space in a newly-constructed research tower with a state-of-the-art vivarium and outstanding core facilities in proteomics, genomics, microscopy, high-throughput molecular screening, bioinformatics, flow cytometry, and others. The Institute’s location adjacent to the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and the University of the Sciences provides for vigorous academic and clinical collaborations, as well as attractive training opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
