The person who takes on the role of Director, Software and Bioinformatics, will be a key member of Senior R&D Leadership, will play a major role in setting the direction for the development of software for customers as well as internal use at the organization, and will make significant contributions to the development of Transplant Diagnostics' future strategic focus. The individual who fills this position will have a unique set of responsibilities in managing people and projects; partnering with Biology teams developing reagents, assays, and kits; and interfacing with the company's customers as well as other Departments, including Regulatory, Quality, Operations, and Product Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Managing, mentoring, and guiding staff responsible for the development and maintenance of software and bioinformatics tools, including, as needed, hiring, organizational design, and performance managementManaging and developing a portfolio of projects in software and bioinformatics, including the effective implementation of SDLC/Design Control, in partnership with Project ManagementPartnering with Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and other groups in order to ensure that all software meets or exceeds all relevant standardsUnderstanding and applying new tools, methodologies, and approaches from outside the organizationCollaborating closely with peers and other in Research and Development in order to ensure a tight connection between the development of the company's reagent/assay products and softwareMeeting with customers and attending conferences in order to understand end-user needsPresenting and reporting on innovation efforts, project progress, and other topics, as neededHands-on problem solving for complex implementation issues for team members while leading by example.Being a key technical resource for software and bioinformatics across the organizationManaging budgets for internal efforts and, as needed, outsourced external projectsCollaborating with instrument manufacturers and third-party vendors to understand integration specifications and related details to create fully integrated workflows that include software
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or the Biological Sciences, advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Immunology, Molecular or Cell Biology, or Biochemistry highly preferred. MBA degree is a plus.Minimum of 5-10 years of experience managing people and projects in software and/or bioinformaticsTrack record of successful development of enterprise-level, high-volume, preferably multi-language commercial software or bioinformatics tools for use in the life sciences, including hands-on programming experience as well as fluency in the entire life cycle of product development, including the analysis of customer needs, verification and validation Hands-on experience with .Net 4.5.1, Visual Studio, C#, WPF and ASP.Net, MS MS SQL 2008/2014, Infragistics technologies and data migration across multiple releases.Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Life Science product development, preferably with a focus on IVD (in vitro diagnostic) productsFamiliarity with laboratory research in molecular and cell biology and biochemistry, with hands-on laboratory experience a plusExperience with laboratory automation and other hardware engineering preferableKnowledge of the HLA field and/or NGS (next-generation sequencing) technologies is ideal
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Extensive time at computer workstations. Travel up to 30%, including international.
