This Bioinformatics Product Specialist role provides a unique opportunity for a qualified bioinformatician with an interest in working with customers to deliver best-in-class data analysis support for next-generation sequencing platforms. In this role, you will work as a bridge between customers and internal bioinformatics development teams to resolve issues related to usage of software products and interpretation of results. You may also develop tools for next generation sequence analysis, and perform custom data analysis to assist customers in the interpretation of their data. Given this is a direct customer interaction role, your attention to communication skills will be equally important as your bioinformatics skills. If you are looking to break out of academia and get some experience in the biotechnology industry, this is a great opportunity to build on your current skill set and learn about how genomics labs across the world analyze next-generation sequencing data.
Key Responsibilities ·
Work directly with customers to solve their bioinformatics challenges, with an emphasis on gene panel sequencing, which may include troubleshooting, problem-solving, developing custom analyses pipeline to resolve issues and present data in the best lightProvide support for escalations from the field support team by acting as a bridge for internal development teamsGather feedback from customers to help the product management team prioritize requirements for future hardware and software developmentCreate training materials, protocols, and applications notes on data analysisAnalyze sequencing data, design analysis strategies, tools and algorithms, and develop operating pipelines for customersParticipate in software testing of pre-release softwareRequirements Masters or PhD in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry, computer science or equivalent.
Previous experience in data analysis of nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) sequencing data is required, next-generation sequencing data preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in bioinformatics and data analysis. Practical experience with open source bioinformatics tools and wide knowledge of genomics applications are incredibly helpful.
Aptitude to present Bioinformatics issues and solutions to audiences with varying levels of experience is critical. Previous experience working with customers would be a distinct advantage. Previous experience working with clinical diagnostic customers is strongly desired.
