Job Description:
Staff Software Test Engineer

Participate as a member of the Bioinformatics team responsible for developing and executing software test plans, designs, automated test cases, verification and validation documents that will support the various business and scientific needs of the company. Test and assure the highest degree of quality in external and internal software programs and systems using the project specific requirements and documentation as required by ISO, SDLC and FDA compliant software development procedures.

Play a lead role in developing and organizing verification and validation activities for assays and software to be used in clinical settings.

Generate and execute verification and validation protocols in compliance with ISO, FDA, GMP quality software standards. Document findings, analyses and summary recommendations.

Work with the design team to document product requirements and detailed specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Develop, execute, and evaluate software test plans/strategies, designs, and automated test cases.
Write requirements and specifications for tests, including anticipated problems.
Able to design and implement test cases in a rapid prototyping environment with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform and orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously.
Generate and execute verification and validation protocols in compliance with quality software standards.
Document findings, analyses and summary recommendations.
Troubleshoot problems and evaluate potential solutions, guiding the development and test teams.
Log, verify and track issues in an error tracking system.
Lead efforts to enhance and make the testing process more efficient.
Work with the design team to document product requirements and detailed specifications.

Ongoing coordination and communication with other members of the team including project leaders, programmers, research scientists, research technologists, QA dept, and documentation specialists. Actively participate in project team meetings and review sessions.

Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive and proprietary data.
Provide reliable status reports on project tasks.
Follow corporate quality policy and departmental ISO procedures.

Education/Training Experience :

Required:
BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar technical degree
BS + 10 years experience
MS + 5 years experience
Experience with verification and validation methods in web based technologies and Agile environments.
Experience working in a regulated business, such as medical device or pharmaceutical development.
Experience leading a team of testers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements :
Desk work, including long periods of time in front of a PC.
This position may require some travel.
