A postdoctoral position is available to study outer membrane proteins of Treponema pallidum, the agent of venereal syphilis. The project involves the use of molecular and structural methodologies to characterize members of the T. pallidum repeat (Tpr) family as well as other outer membrane proteins identified from the T. pallidum genomic sequence. The position requires expertise with recombinant DNA and bioinformatics as well as a strong background in protein structural biology. A background in microbiology is also desirable.
