Shortlist Add to shortlist ApplyThe Statistical Bioinformatics Lab of the University of Iowa (http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/labs/au/) is seeking candidates for postdoctoral research fellow positions to work on sequencing analyses. Possible topics to work on include but not limited to:
1) Methodology research of Third Generation Sequencing (TGS) (especially for PacBio and Oxford Nanopore sequencing), hybrid sequencing (Second Generation Sequencing (SGS) + TGS) and TGS-alone methodology research are our research interest.
2) Gene isoform specific analysis, such as abundance estimation, differential analysis and regulatory network.
3) Epigenetics analysis using PacBio sequencing, such as base modification detection.
4) Cancer transcriptome analysis. Au lab is interested in solving the complexity of cancer transcriptome, such as tumor heterogeneity, by TGS and Hybrid-Seq.
The postdoctoral fellows will develop statistical and computational/algorithmic methods for analyses and integration of large-scale, multi-species genomic/transcriptomic data from diverse biological and clinical samples, including Second/Third Generation Sequencing. He/she will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally recognized biomedical scientists at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Stanford University, University of Oxford and Pacific Biosciences.
The applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics or closely related fields. Strong ability in computer programming (python/perl, C/C++, R) or statistical analysis is essential. An established track record in sequencing analysis is a significant plus.
The Carver College of Medicine of University of Iowa is among the top ten public medical schools in National Institutes of Health funding. The University-owned teaching hospital is one of the largest in the United States. The Department of Internal Medicine and the College of Medicine house internationally and nationally recognized centers across the biomedicine disciplines.
