Kunsan National University (KNU) and “the Program for International Consortia and Collaboration in Agribioinformatics at NAGP” (PICCAN) are recruiting two research scientists specialized in the field of bioinformatics.
The program was recently launched to assist “the National Agricultural Genome Program” (NAGP) initiated by “the National Academy of Agricultural Science” (NAAS). The NAGP is running seventeen different genome sequencing projects including ten crop species, four livestock species, and three Arthropod species. One of the primary goals of the PICCAN is to establish an open environment for NAGP researchers to have synergistic interaction with bioinformaticians with advanced techniques and experiences. Successful candidates will join the NAGP sequencing teams and participate in genome analyses of the species in a collaborative environment.
Desired categories of participation are as follows; NGS sequence assembly, annotation, comparative genomics and writing papers. Thus, we are recruiting experienced researchers from abroad who are willing to contribute toward developing new research environments. Invitees must be able to work naturally/comfortably in English. The position will initially be a short-term appointment but can be extended to more than a year.
Working Conditions:
1) Employment Period: Minimum 6 months.
(Contract can be renewed on an annual basis, depending on funding and performance).
2) Salary and benefits: 3,000,000-3,600,000 KWR (approx. 2,500-3,000 USD) per month including tax, twenty days of paid leave per year (8 days of paid leave for 6 months), coverage under the Korean National Health Insurance system, one round-trip air ticket (economy class) per year/contract

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We welcome any researchers with bioinformatics background who are in transition, i.e., looking for more experience before settling down in a permanent position, seeking an exciting place for sabbatical, wanting to share his/her lifelong expertise after retirement, and so on. KNU and the PICCAN will cover a basic salary (see below), half of National Helath Insurance, and round-trip air tickets (one per [contract / year ]).
