We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with a background in bioinformatics or computational biology to join a cross-disciplinary team at the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health & Comparative Medicine (IBAHCM, University of Glasgow), and Moredun Research Institute to work on a promising new vaccine against one of the worst nematodes infections affecting sheep. The successful applicant will work with a team of biologists / veterinary researchers to apply existing, or to develop novel, statistical and computational bioinformatic methods for analysis of longitudinal tissue-specific transcriptomic, histological, and parasitological data, with the aim of identifying immune pathways that are predictive of vaccine success and failure. The applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with bioinformaticians at Glasgow Polyomics, to draw on immunological and parasitological expertise of the main research team, and to build on statistical modelling and machine learning expertise available at Glasgow University. A successful candidate would have a solid background in bioinformatics, statistics, and/or machine learning. Independence and a self-driven attitude are highly appreciated, but the candidate should be able to work as part of a team as well. The successful candidate will have a relevant PhD and a proven track record of bioinformatics research. Experience with R or Python is required.  [More]
