The New York University School of Medicine Department of Pathology is currently looking for a highly motivated bioinformatics scientist/post-doctoral fellow interested in analysis of big data sets in gene and environmental interaction. In the four NIH–funded projects on cancers of the oral cavity, esophagus, and stomach and HIV infection, the successful candidate will have opportunities to examine the association between human microbiome and cancers/inflammatory diseases and elucidate the etiology and pathogenesis, by using high throughput sequencing technology, computational and statistical analyses, and biomedical experiments. The ideal candidate will hold an MSc or PhD in bioinformatics, system biology, computer science, or obtained equivalent knowledge through relevant and substantial experience. S/he must be able to work independently while collaborating and assisting the team in its communal research goals. Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects is necessary.
