The W2 Professorship is funded by the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) – the largest research institution for cardiovascular diseases in Germany. Founded in 2011 as one of six German Centers of Health Research (DZG), the DZHK focuses on translating new approaches in cardiovascular research into clinical practice in order to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. TheDZHK unites excellent basic researchers and clinical researchers from seven partner sites in Germany.
