Careers Start Here. A highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow is sought to carry out a research project in the lab of Dr. Andrew Hsieh at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. Applicants should be interested in the application of basic science and RNA biology research towards clinically intractable problems faced by cancer patients and will be expected to be scientifically intrepid. About the Hsieh Lab The primary focus of the Hsieh lab (http://research.fhcrc.org/hsieh/en.html) is to unravel the post-transcriptional mechanisms that govern the genesis and progression of epithelial malignancies. Our research seeks to understand how rogue cells co-opt the critical structure-function relationship between RNA and the protein synthesis machinery to drive specific cancer behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level (Hsieh et al. Cancer Cell 2010, Hsieh et al. Nature 2012, Hsieh et al. Science Signaling 2015). We achieve this through utilizing cutting sequencing techniques and novel primary cell and animal models. Ultimately, we aim to utilize our fundamental discoveries in transnational control biology to tackle critical issues faced by cancer patients today. To be considered, candidates must have: A recent PhD, MD/PhD, or MD in a relevant biological field A strong background in RNA biology Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques A demonstrated track record of productive research, with at least one first author paper Experience with bioinformatics is highly desirable An ability to work both independently and as part of a laboratory team Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule: Full time position Salary DOE + excellent benefits To Apply: Please apply with a letter summarizing previous work experience, future research interests, and contact information for three professional references.
