Faculty of Medicine School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics MED BIO Fellow in Molecular Epidemiology / Biostatistics Salary range: £33,860 to £42,830 p.a. MED-BIO is a recent major MRC funded medical informatics initiative led by Imperial College London. The aim of this programme is to bring together patient/cohort data, new omics technologies, computing and other resources, with dedicated infrastructure in data management, integration, analysis and visualisation, to enable major advances in understanding the aetiopathogenesis of chronic human diseases, and the gene-environment-microbiome interactions that underpin them. As part of the MED-BIO programme, we are seeking to appoint a talented fellow in molecular epidemiology / biostatistics to support this ambitious programme of work. Appointments will be based on research excellence and track records, equally though we will look to appoint individuals with a background in epidemiology, statistics, bioinformatics or a related quantitative discipline, who wish to apply their expertise to understanding the aetiology, pathogenesis, pathways and mechanisms of chronic human disease. The appointee will have the opportunity to spend up to 1 year in a second research centre or UK industrial centre. Successful candidates are expected to develop their own competitive independent research programmes, submit to major funders a coherent competitive proposal, and to support their research programme and the next stage of their career development in either a senior fellowship or substantive post. A rigorous and thorough selection procedure akin to MRC Strategic Skills - Biomedical Informatics Fellowship scheme will be adopted. Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistical genomics, machine learning or related quantitative disciplines The post is full time for a fixed term of 60 months. The fellowship programme will be based at Imperial College London.        [More]
