Job Skills: Modeling
We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Petsalaki research group at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). You will use high throughput biological datasets, data integration and statistical modelling to study the global cell signaling responses in healthy and disease conditions. [More]
The research group “Junction of Statistics and Biology” led by Professor Jingyi Jessica Li in the Department of Statistics at UCLA invites applications for a postdoctoral position, available from November 2016. The research in the group focuses on developing statistical methods to address important biological and biomedical questions from high-throughput genetic and genomic data. Our current projects include: modeling bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data for identifying and quantifying full-length mRNA transcripts, systematic identification of gene-gene and protein-DNA relationships using diverse genomic data, large-scale comparison of biological samples from different species using epigenomic and transcriptomic data, and statistical methodology development motivated by genomic applications (e.g., asymmetric error control in binary classification, high-dimensional variable selection, and measures of dependence). Moderna is seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated bioinformatician to lead the computational efforts central to the success of Caperna, a Moderna venture based in Cambridge MA. Caperna's mission is to develop Personalized Cancer Vaccines (PCVs), delivering on the potential of both personalized medicine and mRNA vaccines for patients with aggressive tumors and high unmet medical need. We are seeking two postdoctoral fellows to conduct bioinformatics research on complex human pathologies, including Alzheimer´s disease, in the frame of the ERC funded project SysPharmAD. The main objective of the project is the identification of novel biomarkers in complex pathologies that correlate with clinical outcomes, to monitor the onset and progression of the pathology from very early stages, and to discover combinations of drug targets and chemical compounds able to modify the biology of the disease. The Plant Pathology department is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow for Dr. Jesse Poland's lab. This person will be expected to independently design and implement complex genomics research experiments using the latest statistical modeling and machine learning approaches. [More]
The Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah seeks a Bioinformatics Data Analyst/Epidemiologist to join its bioinformatics research team. As one of the Analyst/Epidemiologist team, the successful candidate will evaluate the relationship between medical conditions and their causes and medical interventions and their outcomes through data analysis. The selected candidate will collaborate within a research team completing all aspects of a project through study design, regulatory approvals, project management, statistical analysis, as well as interpretation and dissemination of results. The algorithms and data analysis department seeks a talented and motivated individual to provide advanced analytical and software support for product research and development efforts. The successful candidate in this position will work closely with the Data Analysis team to develop analysis methods for genotyping SNPs and other complex variants. Approaches will target genotyping species of non-human organisms, with genomic complexity such as inbreeding, polyploidy, paralogous sequence variation, and subpopulation diversity. [More]
The Department of Biology at the University of La Verne invites outstanding applicants to apply for the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in Computational Biology- a full-time tenured-track or tenure position at the rank of associate or Full Professor. The specific field of expertise in biology is open, although interdisciplinary connections and a health focus is highly desirable. Examples of such interdisciplinary connections could include (but are not limited to) modeling of biological networks, big data analytics, and integration of genomic and health datasets for improvement of public health.
