The Bioinformatics group of Prof. Dr. Rolf Backofen is looking for a PhD student or Postdoctoral researcher In all model organisms a variety of non-coding RNAs have been found but so far their mode of actions and functions are almost unknown. Interactions between these ncRNAs and their targets often rely on direct RNA-RNA interactions, however, they are usually controlled by additional protein factors. In this project we will investigate the effect of an bacterial RNA helicase on RNA-RNA interactions to gain new insights in fundamental processes like regulation of gene expression, cell differentiation, and cellular stress adaption. The tasks of the candidate will include kinetic modeling of RNAs, design of RNA sense-antisense pairs, model optimization based on wet lab results, prediction of binding positions, and CLIPseq analysis.   The position is for initially 2 years with the possibility of extension. The salary will be determined in accordance with TVL-E13 (100 %).   Further information: http://www.bioinf.uni-freiburg.de/.  [More]
