Job Description:
The Decision Support Analyst designs, develops and implements complex analyses, reports and outcomes evaluation to support the business needs of SCAH. This DSA is responsible for analytic project management, data modeling, statistical and narrative analyses and comparative performance reporting. The analyst gathers data from a variety of external, SH enterprise and local data systems to perform data transformations and analyses. This includes working with end-users to glean an understanding of the clinical/business tasks at hand. The analyst works closely with SCAH’s executive leaders, finance, strategy and other business development teams, and with end users to develop and present results in meaningful formats. Analyses may include performance monitoring, patient safety and quality data analytics, satisfaction, EMR reporting development, clinical population analyses, and program evaluations. The DSA is responsible for development of all data-related processes and databases, oversight of work from other staff members involved in the data collection on large scale, complex, or critical analyses, projects and reporting.

Qualifications:

Education:

A Bachelor Degree required. A Master Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Economics, Health Economics, or related field, along with demonstrated health care data analysis and computer-modeling skills, strongly preferred.

Experience:

Competency with structured systems development techniques and proficiency with programming window-based software and in database concepts is required. Must have ability to concurrently manage multiple projects. Must have experience in presenting findings with recommendations orally and in writing to administration and clinicians. Clinical experience and experience with mainframe and PC data integration is desirable. Must have 3-5 years of designing and conducting complex analyses including statistical analyses. A solid foundation in health care and clinical research and evaluation strongly desired. Must have solid experience in mining health-related data systems.

Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of data analyses and queries, spreadsheet formats, CQI principles and report production is required. Knowledge of health care systems and general clinical operations helpful. Must know and understand how to apply statistical methods. Must be able to perform and complete work assignments effectively and accurately with very minimal direction and supervision. Must have knowledge of automating processes through SAS macros, SQL scripts or other applicable tools.

Skills:

Excellent analytical and organization skills are required as well as the ability to present complicated information to administrators and clinicians in a concise meaningful manner. An ability to prioritize multiple projects and information requests is critical.
