Job Description:
The University at Buffalo Microbiome Center invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to and oversee an ongoing research project of mutual interest related to the emerging field of the role of the microbiome and metabolome in human health and disease. A series of projects are ongoing relating to the role of the microbiome and metabolome in metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity, in cardiovascular disease and in specific cancers including colorectal cancer. Other and projected projects involve the role of the microbiome and metabolome in pregnancy, and oral diseases. All aspects of microbiome research from clinical studies, next generation sequencing metabolite identification to bioinformatics are critical to these studies. Two postdoctoral positions are currently open in the Microbiome Center at the University at Buffalo for a self-motivated, productive and enthusiastic investigator willing to make the most of the collaborative environment at the UB Microbiome Center. The Center includes a group of dentists, epidemiologists, bioinformatics analysts, biostatisticians, and clinicians. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in dentistry, epidemiology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, biology, or biochemistry, and have published first-author papers in reputable journals. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Motivation, interest and a collaborative spirit are highly desired! Successful candidates will have opportunities to build on our unique expertise and momentum with microbiome work with a strong group of collaborators in multiple fields. Minimum Qualifications: 1. PhD or equivalent degree. 2. Evidence of publications. 3. Strong oral and written communication ability. 4. Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
