Job Description:
We are seeking a Junior Database Programmer / Systems Administrator to work at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, MD. Responsibilities: • Assist the Senior architect in the research, administrations, management, design, documentation, and evaluation a variety of a relational (SQL) database management systems (DBMS). • Enforce database administration and user standards and procedures. • Evaluate database server integrity and security. • Maintain data in systems using relevant commands, hand-editing, and bulk import per standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out by the Senior architect. • Conduct database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites as assigned. • Assists information system analysts in the development of queries, including for data mining. • Assist the Sr. architect in the implementation of new database structures and online technology as requested/required. • Assists in ensuring that IT programs and databases comply with all applicable regulations and policies, including Federal, DA and MEDCOM. • Communicates project status, issues, and resolutions as required to the Sr. Architect. • Develops database and related application documentation under the supervision of the Sr. architect Qualifications: • B.A. or B.S. Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems. • 1+ years experience with relational databases. Desired Skills: • Experience with Sharepoint, reporting, and bioinformatics Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
