Under limited direction, will be responsible for development and design of websites to provide access to and display content from a complex central database project to multiple end users. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently create and manage a variety of websites for the distribution of data to sets of users at multiple institutions
- Identify, test and implement appropriate software and systems
- Review and monitor website stability and usability
- Ensure appropriate data access and visualization strategies are used to effectively present data
- Troubleshoot errors and problems and make recommendations for system upgrades and improvements
- Respond to user inquiries and needs for development of specific site
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
- Be responsible, organized, and a problem solver
- Possess strong attention to detail, analytical, time management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Embody the Institute’s core values of Commitment, Collaboration, Communication, Community and Compassion
- Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Information Systems, or a related field and seven years of directly related, cumulative experience or equivalent education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained
- Previous experience working with biological data is strongly preferred
- Requires strong experience in web languages (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc.) AJAX technologies experience, and demonstrated experience working with web technologies (JSP, Servlets, PHP)
- Must have previous experience with web authoring and graphic applications (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash)
- Experience working with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL), and knowledge of Semantic Web technologies
- Must possess a demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding information technology, as well as directly-related experience designing and implementing computing solutions.
