Job Description:
MSC is searching for a Research Scientist to join our team at NIH. This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position with MSC and it is on-site at the NIH in Bethesda, MD.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate will work on research projects which include:

  • Develop statistical algortihms for improving drug-target interaction predictions
  • Classify compounds and their polypharmacology properties through data mining chemical biology data contained in publicly available databases
  • Develop methods and algorithms for integrating biomedical data, in particular chemical biology data, structure biology data, and genomic data for identifying biological compounds, drug candidates and their targets
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemoinformatics, Computer Science and Technology, mathematics or related field.
  • 10 or more years of research experience in the field.
  • 5 or more years of database experience.
  • Experience in chemoinformatics, bioinformatics, and computer-aided drug design.
  • Familiarity with R, Python, MATLAB, C++, SQL and related technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills to convey biostatistics principles and concepts to non-specialists in a clear and precise manner and advise on relevant software and tools with a dedication to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and use of sound judgement to solve complex challenges.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to concurrently work on multiple complex projects with effective time management skills with a high level of personal and professional drive and initiative as well as attention to detail.
