Network biology of cancer immunotherapyFor more than 15 years we treat cancer patients with dendritic cell vaccines. We have demonstrated efficacy although so far the number of patients with long-term benefit is limited. Development of novel biomarkers that warrant selection of patients that will or will not benefit from dendritic cell vaccination or other immune therapy is extremely important. For this we need to have a better understanding of the interplay between tumor and immune cells. We require multi-omics approaches where DNA-, RNA-, and proteome- data from immune cell subsets are integrated together with functional data (immune response analyses) and immunohistological data from the tumor microenvironment to better understand and predict the outcome of dendritic cell vaccination.
Description
You have obtained a PhD degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics or equivalent. You have significant knowledge about relevant omics data types as well as expertise in the analysis of such data with state of the art bioinformatics tools. You have several years of experience on a postdoc level and experience in collaborating with (bio)medical researchers, preferably in the area of (tumor)immunology. You have published several methodological papers in prominent statistics or bioinformatics journals, present regularly at scientific conferences, and have shown capabilities to obtain scientific funding. You have strong communicative skills in English, and enjoy collaborating with researchers outside your own field. The candidate has the ambition and potential to become a full professor in due time, as demonstrated by his/her track record and capabilities to acquire independent funding as a junior principal investigatorBenefits
