- Provide vision, leadership, direction, and support for the Program Management team in delivering complex software solutions.
- Manage and mentor Program Managers, with a vested interest in their personal and professional growth at LabKey.
- Own the delivery schedule and plans for LabKey’s projects and programs through implementation, launch and support, ensuring continuous improvements in the process.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients by managing expectations, offering options and solutions to problems, recommending new products and services.
- Solicit, analyze, determine, and document technical requirements and priorities with clients, client owners, and other stakeholders. Develop strong technical specifications that translate client requirements into effective new enhancements that leverage and harmonize with existing features.
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations to provide plans that support the definition, delivery, and quality release of LabKey’s software.
- Drive and create Program Management best practices for the organization through creative and flexible solutions.
- Facilitate a healthy balance between product team and client needs.
- Effectively lead the Program Managers to engage in cross-functional teams to develop product, resolve conflicts and issues, report status, and facilitate communication.
- Capture and manage project risks/issues and the execution of risk mitigation/contingency plans and any necessary escalations.
- Drive the scrum process, overseeing sprint planning, leading daily stand-ups, adjusting tasks as needed, and iterating/improving to ensure an efficient and effective software development process.
- Demonstrate genuine interest in contributing to and building a great product and outstanding product development team.

- A minimum 8 years’ experience in software program management with at least 2 as a people or process manager
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
- Professional software development experience as a Program Manager, Project Manager, or Software Developer (strongly preferred)
- Experience managing the scrum/agile processes
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly understand and translate clients’ scientific and data management challenges and concerns into solution oriented discussions and action items
- Ability to constantly balance priorities to determine which tasks/deliverables are most critical
- Understanding of user experience and user interface principles and their impact on products. Ability to contribute to the continual improvement of products through constructive feedback and business requirement gathering
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong drive for results, keen attention to detail, and demonstrated comfort with ambiguity
- Understanding of modern web application architecture and familiarity with programming tools such as SQL, Java, JavaScript, and R
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills; able to work effectively with variety of people in a diverse workforce; adaptable to changing work requirements; willing to multi-task; high degree of professional integrity; strong client service orientation.
