Job Description:
Asuragen is seeking multiple outstanding undergraduates, recent graduates and/or graduate students in the computational sciences for 2018 summer internships focused on developing innovative methods and/or software solutions that support Asuragen’s molecular diagnostics portfolio and clinical research products. These internship positions offer exposure to cutting-edge, applied scientific research and provide unique experiences that come from working in a scientific business. Projects will advance computational methods that can help diagnose disease and/or inform the treatment of disorders ranging from autism to cancer. Each intern will have a specific project and an Asuragen scientific mentor; projects are scoped to produce defined outcomes within the internship period. Potential internship opportunities span the diagnostic product development spectrum, from conception and feasibility through late-stage development. We are looking for academically accomplished, highly motivated, and energetic individuals with a strong interest in research and development in an industry setting. Previous research experience is preferred, particularly in one of the following areas: Biostatistics, machine learning, numerical optimization, next-generation-sequencing data analysis or software development (in one or more of the following languages: Python, R, Java, JavaScript or C++).
