Job Description:
We are seeking qualified candidates for a postdoctoral research position in human-centered computational data analysis, in the Department of Computer Science at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX (in the Austin Metropolitan Area). Review of applications will start on December 31, 2014 and continue until the position has been filled.
The selected scholar will work under the supervision of Dr. Vangelis Metsis on a variety of projects to develop and test methods and tools for acquisition and analysis of behavioral and physiological data, coming from human subjects. The methods will be based on theory coming form the areas of machine learning, data mining and computer vision.
The position is a one-year appointment, with the opportunity to renew based on satisfactory performance. Salary and benefits are competitive. Desired skills and experience
Required: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering by the time of appointment, a demonstrated record of high-quality research output in one or more of the areas of Machine Learning, Data Mining and Computer vision, and experience in the use of sensors for human-centered data acquisition.
Preferred: Strong programming skills in Java, C++ and Matlab are a plus, as are good English-language technical writing skills.
