Job Description:
We are inviting applications for two research-intensive tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty positions in the Molecular Biomedical Sciences department at North Carolina State University.

We wish to build on our strengths in comparative medicine in the following two areas:

Molecular mechanisms of allergic inflammation: It is expected that the candidate will have experience in studying the complex interplay of cytokines, mediators and cells that follows allergic challenges in vitro and in animals. An interest in neuro-immune interaction and a focus on skin allergy are preferred.

Neurobiology of itch: It is expected that the candidate will have investigated either the mechanism of itch, especially that associated with allergic inflammation, the peripheral or central signaling pathways of itch or the relationship between itch and pain.

The successful candidates will be housed within state-of-the-art research facilities at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine located on the newly established Centennial Biomedical Campus. Faculty are expected to collaborate with colleagues of NC State’s Center for Comparative Medicine and Translational Research, neighboring universities (Duke, UNC-CH, Wake Forest) and/or biomedical partners in the local Research Triangle Park. Competitive salaries (state-supported, 12-months) and start-up funds will be commensurate with research needs and experience.
