Job Description:
The Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia is seeking applicants for a full time postdoctoral position in the field of symbiosis to be employed under 2 year contract, starting January to March 2016. The postdoctoral researcher will investigate selected traits of population genetics and genomics within complex systems of host-parasite-symbiont interface. The systems include several parasitic/symbiotic organisms (lice, mites, unicellular eukaryotes and bacteria) associated with vertebrate hosts (rodents, birds). The main aims include comparisons of population genetic structure and demography events among the counterparts, tracing signatures of adaptive changes within parasitic/symbiotic genomes. From methodological point of view, the project combines traditional methods of molecular phylogenetics (PCR-based phylogenies and genealogies) with advanced techniques of population genetics (AFLP-based genomic scan, microsatelite-based population structure), high troughput sequencing (both amplicon and shotgun) and modern visualization methods (FISH and confocal microscopy).

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree in evolutionary biology, microbiology, parasitology, genomics, bioinformatics, or disciplines relevant to the job description.
Experience with standard techniques of molecular biology and bioinformatic analysis of large data sets. Biochemistry background and an experience in microscopy is a plus.
Excellent English communication at both written and oral level.
